About ClearCrumb

ClearCrumb is built and run by Usman Khan, an independent WordPress developer, under his company Dotance. No investors, no ad network, no data business behind it.

Why ClearCrumb exists

Most cookie plugins make you choose: a free banner that does not really block anything, or a paid service that charges by pageviews and keeps your visitors’ data in its cloud. Sites grow, the bill grows, and the banner still loads the tracker before anyone said yes.

ClearCrumb was built to fix that: a banner that actually blocks scripts until consent, keeps every record in your own WordPress database, and costs the same whether you have a hundred visitors or a million.

What we promise

  • The free plugin is complete. Blocking, Consent Mode v2, GPC, EU and US rules, the consent log, the scanner and the Leak Test are free, with no time limit and no locked features.
  • Your data stays on your site. ClearCrumb needs no account and sends no visitor data to us.
  • Flat prices. Pro is priced per number of sites, never per pageview. Staging sites are free.
  • Fast and accessible. The banner code is under 10 KB (gzipped) and aims at WCAG 2.2 AA (see Accessibility).
  • Straight answers. ClearCrumb helps you meet consent rules; it is not legal advice, and the docs say so.

How it is made

ClearCrumb is free software under the GPL. Every release is tested on a real WordPress install with the common cache plugins, checked with Plugin Check and axe-core, and must keep the banner small. The source code ships with the plugin, so anyone can read and build it.

What comes next is on the Roadmap; every release is in the Changelog.
