A cookie banner is the first thing many visitors meet, so it has to work for everyone. ClearCrumb aims at WCAG 2.2 level AA for both the banner and this website.
The banner
- Keyboard: every button and switch can be reached and used with the keyboard. The Center modal layout keeps focus inside the banner until the visitor answers, and returns it afterwards.
- Screen readers: the banner is a labelled dialog region; switches announce their state; the language of the banner text is set.
- Contrast: all six styles and the dark versions pass WCAG AA contrast. When you choose your own button colour, ClearCrumb picks readable button text.
- Equal choice: Reject is as visible and as easy as Accept.
- Right-to-left: Arabic and Hebrew sites get a mirrored banner.
- Testing: each release is checked with axe-core (zero violations) and by keyboard.
This website
clearcrumb.com is tested with axe-core and Lighthouse (accessibility score 100) and by keyboard. Text links are underlined, images have text alternatives, and the video has captions.
Known limits
Content you write yourself (custom banner text, your own colours outside the button colour, theme CSS) can lower contrast or readability. The admin screens of the plugin follow WordPress’s own accessibility patterns.
