1. Who we are and what these terms cover
clearcrumb.com is run by Usman Khan, Dotance ([email protected]; see the Legal notice), called “we” here. These terms cover this website, the free ClearCrumb plugin and ClearCrumb Pro. By using any of them you accept these terms.
2. Not legal advice, no guarantee of compliance
- ClearCrumb is software that gives you tools for consent. It does not make your website compliant by itself and we do not guarantee that it meets every law, regulator or court decision that applies to you. Privacy laws differ by country and change often.
- The website, the documentation, the blog, the Compliance Score, the Leak Test, the scanner and any generated texts (such as the cookie policy) explain how the software works and what the rules say in general. They are not legal advice. We are not a law firm. For advice on your situation, ask a qualified lawyer.
- You decide how ClearCrumb is set up on your site, which services you list, which texts you publish and whether your site complies. You remain responsible for how your site collects and uses personal data.
3. The free plugin
ClearCrumb is free software, licensed under the GNU General Public License v2 or later, and distributed through WordPress.org. As the licence says, it comes without any warranty, to the extent permitted by law: it is provided “as is”, without a promise that it is free of errors, fit for a particular purpose or always available.
4. ClearCrumb Pro
- Licence. Pro is also GPL software. Your purchase gives you a licence key for updates and support for the number of sites in your plan, for one year. Staging and development sites do not count.
- Renewal. Plans renew yearly at the price shown at renewal. You get a reminder before renewal and can cancel at any time in your account.
- Refunds. You can ask for a full refund within 14 days of purchase.
- Without renewal. Pro keeps working; updates and support stop.
- Payments and VAT. Handled by our reseller Freemius, who is the merchant of record and issues the invoice. Freemius’s own terms apply to the payment.
- Changes. We may change features, plans and prices for new purchases and renewals. A price change never affects a period you have already paid for.
5. Support
Free plugin support runs on the WordPress.org forum. Pro support is by email on working days. We aim to reply quickly but do not promise a response time or a fix for every problem.
6. Third-party services
ClearCrumb works with services we do not control, such as WordPress.org, Freemius, Brevo, Cloudflare, Google, YouTube, Vimeo and the tools on your own site. We are not responsible for their availability, their changes or how they process data; their own terms apply.
7. Liability
- We are liable without limit for damage caused by intent or gross negligence, for injury to life, body or health, and where a law does not allow limits.
- In all other cases, and as far as the law allows: we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, lost profit or revenue, lost data, business interruption, or for fines, penalties, claims or costs from regulators, courts or third parties related to how your website handles consent or personal data.
- Our total liability for everything else is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim. For the free plugin and this website, which cost nothing, that amount is zero, as far as the law allows.
- Nothing in these terms limits your statutory rights as a consumer.
8. Your use of the website
Do not misuse this website: no attacks, scraping that harms the site, spam through the forms, or attempts to get around security. We may block access to protect the site.
9. Name and logo
The GPL covers the code. It does not give you the right to use the ClearCrumb name or logo for your own products or in a way that suggests we endorse you. You may refer to ClearCrumb by name to describe it.
10. Business users
If you use ClearCrumb for a business or for clients, you will hold us harmless from claims by your clients, visitors or authorities that come from your setup, your texts or your breach of the law, as far as the law allows. This section does not apply to consumers.
11. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms. The date at the top shows the latest version. For paid plans, important changes are announced by email before they apply.
12. Law and courts
These terms are governed by the laws of Pakistan, and the courts of Lahore have jurisdiction, as far as the law allows. EU and UK consumers keep the protection of the mandatory law of their country of residence. If one part of these terms is invalid, the rest still applies.
