Cookie policy

Last updated: 13 October 2026

This page explains which cookies and similar browser storage clearcrumb.com uses, why, and how you can change your choice. We use as few as possible. It covers this website only; if you run the ClearCrumb plugin on your own site, your site needs its own cookie policy (the plugin can generate one for you to check and adapt).

Change your choice

Use the cookie settings button in the corner of the page or the Cookie settings link in the footer. Withdrawing consent is as easy as giving it and takes effect for everything that runs after it. If your browser sends a Global Privacy Control signal, we honour it as an opt-out.

Cookies we use

Cookie Set by Category Purpose Expires
clearcrumb_consent clearcrumb.com Necessary Remembers your cookie choice. 12 months
__cf_bm Cloudflare Necessary Tells people from bots to protect the site. 30 minutes
cf_clearance Cloudflare Necessary Only set if Cloudflare shows you a security check; remembers that you passed it. As set by the security check, usually 30 minutes
wordpress_*, wp-settings-* clearcrumb.com Necessary Only for people who log in to the site admin. Session to 1 year

Other browser storage

Name Type Purpose Expires
clearcrumb_region, clearcrumb_country Session storage Remember which consent rules apply to your region (for example EU opt-in), so the banner does not ask the server again on every page. Only the region and country code, never your IP address. When you close the tab

When you make a choice, a record of it is kept on our server as proof of consent, with a hashed ID and a shortened, hashed IP address. See the Privacy policy.

Our visit statistics (Cloudflare Web Analytics) use no cookies and no identifiers, and they run only after you accept the Statistics category. We do not use advertising cookies. If that changes, they will wait for your consent and appear here.

Categories

  • Necessary — needed for the site to work and stay secure. Always on; they do not need consent.
  • Preferences — remember choices like language. None used today.
  • Statistics — visit counts. Ours are cookie-less and wait for your consent.
  • Marketing — ads, embedded videos and social media. None used today.

Your browser settings

You can also block or delete cookies in your browser settings. If you block necessary cookies, parts of the site (such as remembering your choice or passing the security check) may not work.

Other websites

Links on this site, for example to WordPress.org, the support forum or AI assistants, lead to sites that set their own cookies under their own policies. We have no control over those cookies.

Changes and questions

We update this page when the cookies we use change and show the date at the top; the version on this page is the one that applies. Questions: contact form or [email protected]. This page explains our own use of cookies and is not legal advice for your website.
